CARLSBAD SEAWALL WALK & LUNCH


Monday, February 10

Let’s head to the beach for a delightful stroll along the Seawall. Bright sunshine or marine air- it is always glorious at the beach! Together we’ll relish the smells and sights of the seashore. After working up an appetite, residents can choose from favorite local hotspots The Daily News Café, Harbor Fish Café or Linda’s
Yogurt and Deli.

Phase 10 is a Rummy type card game with a challenging and exciting twist!

Wednesday, February 12

Join Sheila Jaffe and delight in the beautifully elegant sounds of the Harp. With plenty of experience and an extensive song list including classical and Celtic, it will surely be a joyous experience.


ART FOR ALL AGES

Friday, February 14

Susan is a local artist with many years of experience in art with various mediums. She’ll be joining us on the 2nd Friday of each month to teach an Art Class.


MAHJONG

Monday, February 17

Mahjong is a tile-based game developed in China. The object is to collect winning sets of tiles just as you would in games like Phase 10.

 

UNO


Tuesday, February 18

Uno is the classic card game that’s easy to pick up and impossible to put down! Players take turns matching a card in their hand with the current card shown on top of the deck. Special action cards deliver game-changing moments as they help you defeat your opponents. First player to rid themselves of all the cards in hand wins.

This unique and intriguing museum features the works of exceptional craftsmanship donated by the designers and builders themselves. Created to recognize and reward all the outstanding craftsmanship in projects at the small end of the size scale, these items on display are donated by some of the worlds finest Craftsmen. Also featuring a room that’s devoted to any and all things Dollhouse related, you’ll find yourself struggling to decide what to look at next! Located right in our backyard, be sure to sign-up in the Events Book for this fun and unique outing!

For the month of February, the group will discuss Nina George’s The Little Paris Bookshop. Looking ahead - March’s reading will be My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor.


MINDFULNESS/FINDING OUR WAY TO INNER PEACE CLASS


Friday, February 21

These two groups are found to be helpful in reducing stress, anxiety and depression. The mindfulness training used is a free on-line, non-religious class in which you proceed at your own pace. At meetings all participants are encouraged to share their own helpful thoughts and experiences with the group, or feel free to just listen to the discussion.

FOREIGN FILM FRIDAYS AT THE DOVE LIBRARY PRESENTS: RIDING ALONE FOR THOUSANDS OF MILES

Upon learning his estranged son has cancer, a Japanese fisherman travels to Tokyo to see him. Though his son rejects him, the fisherman decides to finish his dying son’s project...capturing a famous Chinese opera star’s performance
on film.

However, the singer cannot perform, for he is too grief-stricken at his separation from his illegitimate son. Deciding to reunite the singer and his child the fisherman sets out to find him, only to embark on a life-changing quest that will not only give him a greater understanding of the relationship between himself and his own son, but set into motion a healing process that will also have a profound impact on the troubled opera singer and his son. .
