Let’s head to the beach for a delightful stroll along the Seawall. Bright sunshine or marine air - it is always glorious at the beach! Together we’ll relish the smells and sights of the seashore. Afterwards, residents can choose from favorite local hotspots The Daily News Café, Harbor Fish Café or Linda’s Yogurt and Deli.


LEARNING MAHJONG 101

Mahjong is a Chinese game played with either tiles or cards. The object is to collect winning sets of these tiles, just as you would in games such as gin rummy.


DISASTER PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOP

Disasters can strike quickly and without any warning. What would you do if basic services were unavailable such as telephone, communications, water, gas and electricity? Depending on the type of disaster we experience, emergency services could take many hours to days to respond. Executive Director, Chris Arvanitis will be presenting ideas and tools to help you be prepared for disasters.

A DAY AT THE RACES

In celebration of the Del Mar Horse Races, the Chateau is having its annual Day at the Races! Adorn yourselves with your most elaborate hat, and head to the Trellis Court and enjoy a refreshing Mint Julep or glass of champagne while you mull through the Thoroughbred Race Program, and pick out your favorite horses to win, place or show! Programs and detailed instructions for race day will be available from the Concierge starting Friday, July 12th...and may the odds be ever in your favor!

 

CLSM BOAT PICNIC

Enjoy a beautiful day on the lake as we boat out to the picnic grounds for an old-fashioned picnic lunch. Michelle will head up the barbeque with hands on assistance from Katrina and Sam! So relax, enjoy the boat ride and beautiful views, have an ice cold beverage or two and soak in the day with good friends.

 

A CLASS IN MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. This is the teaching of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. called Mindful Based Stress Reduction. This eight lesson, non-religious class is a free online course based on MBSR in which you will proceed at your own pace and have a regular group meeting to discuss what you’ve learned and support each other’s effort.
